Manchester
Salford contains two business populations with almost nothing in common, and the most useful thing an agency can tell you here is which one you are in. At MediaCityUK — around 200 acres of development that has drawn the BBC, ITV, dock10 and the University of Salford's media school since 2011 — sit production companies, post houses, software firms, agencies and consultancies whose customers are in London, Leeds or Los Angeles. Their market is not geographic at all. Selling them local SEO is selling them visibility among people who will never buy.
Then there is everywhere else. Eccles, Swinton, Walkden, Monton, Pendlebury, Irlam and the streets off Chapel Street run on the ordinary economy: garages, dentists, salons, letting agents, builders, takeaways, accountants with a dozen clients within a mile. For those, local search is the whole game, and the Google Business Profile usually matters more than the website. Worsley adds a third, smaller pattern — visitor and leisure trade, sharpened since RHS Garden Bridgewater opened its 154 acres there in 2021 — where people are searching before they travel rather than from their sofa.
The channel advice follows directly. National-market firms at the Quays should spend on the terms that describe what they do, not where they are, and their website is doing more of the selling than any campaign. Neighbourhood businesses should fix the profile, earn reviews, and only then consider paid search. Leisure and visitor businesses need to be findable in the planning stage, which is a content job more than an advertising one. One budget, three completely different first moves.

FAQ
Largely, if your clients are not in Greater Manchester. You would be competing for attention from people who cannot buy from you. What is worth doing is making sure the business is findable for what it does rather than where it sits, and that recruitment searches work — creative and technical firms at the Quays hire locally even when they sell nationally, and that is a genuine local search use.
Because a page needs something specific on it to be worth publishing, and at that level the honest differences are thin. Eccles, Swinton and Walkden are treated inside the Salford work — service areas, location targeting, internal links — without each one getting a page repeating the others with the name changed.
Not routinely. The studio is in London and this work is delivered remotely, which covers everything except tasks needing someone physically present. If a plan depends on local photography or attending an event, we will say so and that part stays with you.
