London Digital Marketing
For most local businesses, "London" is the most expensive keyword they will never convert. The money is in the districts underneath it.

London
"SEO London" and "marketing agency London" are among the most fought-over phrases in the country, and for a local service business they are usually a trap. The people bidding hardest on them are national agencies selling nationally. The customer who genuinely needs a plumber, a dentist or an accountant almost never types the city name — they type their own patch, or they type nothing at all and let the map pack answer. Chasing the city term means competing with the largest budgets in the market for the traffic least likely to convert.
The workable unit of geography in London is smaller: a district, a postcode area, a high street, sometimes a single station. That is what people actually type and what Google actually ranks. It also changes how the site is built — a business covering six districts needs six defensible reasons to exist in six results, not one page listing them as bullet points. Where those reasons do not exist yet, adding the page makes the site worse rather than better.
We are a London studio ourselves, working from Lower Richmond Road in Putney, and our published local pages sit in the west of the city — Ealing, Southall and Hounslow, three markets that behave nothing like each other despite sharing a corner of the map. One is a borough whose name covers seven towns, one draws its customers in from outside, and one competes with an airport for its own search terms. That is the level of difference the word "London" hides.

FAQ
Only if you genuinely sell across the whole city and can afford a long fight — agencies, recruiters, law firms and similar. If your customers come to premises, or you drive to them, the city term will cost more and convert worse than the district terms sitting underneath it. The usual compromise is to earn the district results first and let the city term follow, rather than the other way round.
Because those are the three we can write about with something to show for it. A page per borough would be quick to produce and would say nothing, and a site full of pages like that ranks worse overall, not better. We would rather add a fourth when there is a fourth worth reading.
Yes — the studio is at 66 Lower Richmond Road in Putney, SW15, and it is a real office rather than a mailbox. It matters less than people expect for the work itself, but it does mean a first meeting in person is straightforward if you would rather start that way.
